Leading to Transformation

    • Leaders transform schools and empower teachers.
    • Teachers equip and develop their students.
    • Students lead their community.

Great leaders are the heart of great schools.

Great school leadership starts with the unshakeable belief in the promise and possibility that lives inside every child.

    Great leaders:

    • Create an engaging, inclusive environment in which students feel safe, welcome, and inspired to learn.
    • Set a vision and strategy to ensure students achieve at high levels and teachers are effectively coached and supported.
    • Attract, retain, and empower talented teachers who engage and develop students.
    • Inspire their students with a passion for life-long learning.
    • Act as a bridge, strengthening connections and understanding between students, families, and their school.

More high-quality school leaders mean more high-quality schools serving more Milwaukee students — increasing opportunity and closing the achievement gap.

That’s why we engage, empower, and connect transformational school leaders to foster more high-quality schools for the kids and families who need them most.

  • ENGAGE

Schools That Can Milwaukee recruited Tianna Evans to move from classroom teacher to a leadership role at MPS Carver Academy. After completing our Emerging Leaders Program and our Burke Fellowship principal licensure program at Alverno College, Tianna was promoted to Assistant Principal in fall 2016.

  • EMPOWER

Teresa Reilly began receiving support from Schools That Can Milwaukee as a brand new classroom teacher at St. Anthony School. Today, she leads St. Anthony’s 9th Street Campus as principal. During her tenure, the percentage of students scoring proficient or advanced on the state test has more than tripled.

  • CONNECT

Few schools achieve student attendance rates like those in the Milwaukee College Prep network. Schools That Can Milwaukee has arranged dozens of visits for leaders from across Milwaukee to visit MCP and learn from their approach. This has led to impressive attendance gains at multiple schools.
